Me: Yeah, people like him, the universe make them in order to mock people like us.
Him: Oh geez, what what his name? Ah well, I'm going for a run. Have a great day.
Me: I'm so blogging this.
*leaves*
Me: Wait, was he just talking about Einstein? Why do I suddenly feel stupider, as if the joke was on me instead of by me?

Einstein has a PhD, from the University of Zurich. It was not honorary, he wrote a thesis, and received it while an unknown 26 year-old.
ReplyDeleteAlso, 'really brilliant people' can usually bypass most of the PhD system. In math for example I knew a guy who passed his quals before applying to grad school, then immediately wrote a paper which was his thesis. I don't think his PhD means very much; he didn't have to struggle to earn it.
Also Also (like pps) I think it is awesome that you have a label called 'forked'.
